Understanding ROOR® Joint Sizes

Understanding ROOR® Joint Sizes

Choosing the correct accessory for your ROOR® starts with understanding joint sizes. Whether you're replacing a bowl, upgrading a downstem, or adding new accessories, knowing your joint size helps ensure proper fit and performance.

What Is a Glass Joint?

The joint is the connection point where accessories such as bowls and downstems attach to your glass. Modern ROOR® pieces use precision glass-on-glass joints designed for durability, airflow, and secure fitment.

The Most Common ROOR® Joint Sizes

The two most common ROOR® joint sizes are:

  • 14.5mm Joint
  • 18.8mm Joint

These measurements refer to the diameter of the glass joint where accessories connect.

14.5mm Joints

14.5mm joints are commonly used on bowls and smaller accessory connections. They offer excellent airflow while maintaining a compact design.

18.8mm Joints

18.8mm joints are often found on larger ROOR® pieces and collector builds. The larger opening allows for increased airflow and compatibility with larger accessories.

Male vs. Female Joints

Understanding whether your piece uses a male or female connection is just as important as knowing the size.

  • Male Joint: Inserts into a female connection.
  • Female Joint: Receives a male accessory.

Most ROOR® bowls use a male connection that inserts into a female joint on the piece.

Why Proper Fit Matters

Using the correct joint size helps ensure proper airflow, secure accessory fitment, and optimal performance.

  • Proper airflow
  • Secure accessory fitment
  • Optimal functionality
  • Reduced risk of accidental damage

Before Ordering Accessories

Always verify:

  • Joint size: 14.5mm or 18.8mm
  • Male or female connection
